The Hans India Epaper: The Hans India is a popular English language daily newspaper in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well as in the capital of India, New Delhi. It was launched on 15 July 2011 by Hyderabad Media House Limited and its history can be traced back to that date.
The Hans India Newspaper: The head of this media empire, K. Vamana Rao also runs the popular Telugu language news station HMTV. V. Ramu Sarma is the Editor-in-Chief and is responsible for setting the overall editorial direction. Hans India has its origins in the wider Kapil Group, a conglomerate of over 30 separate businesses. Kapil Chit Fund was the first company to function under the banner of Kapil Group when it was established in 1981.
Introduction to The Hans India Epaper
In Hindi, the word ‘hans’ means swan, and it is from here that the newspaper gets its name. Former MD and CEO of Hyderabad Media House K. Ramachandra Murthy gave some background on the significance of the bird figure.
Murthy explained that the swan was chosen as the HMTV mascot and that the newspaper was given the same name because of the bird’s remarkable ability to tell the difference between milk and water. Hans India, similarly, works hard to separate fact from fiction. The newspaper’s motto, “Free, Frank, and Fearless,” captures the spirit of what it stands for.
The Telugu news station HMTV’s parent company, Hyderabad Media House Ltd., has expanded into print media with the debut of The Hans India, a daily newspaper published in English. The first issue of the newspaper was distributed on July 15, 2011.
K. Ramachandra Murthy, MD and CEO of Hyderabad Media House, decided to branch out into print media after seeing the popularity of the HMTV program “Andhra Dasa Disa.” PNV Nair, formerly of Deccan Chronicle, became the inaugural Editor of The Hans India to steer the fledgling publication.
